Editorial Standards
Ageless Authority is written by Steve Butler — an independent health writer and longevity researcher with 25+ years of anti-aging research. This page explains exactly how content is researched, written, and maintained.
Who Writes This Site
Every article on Ageless Authority is written by me — Steve Butler. I am not a doctor or pharmacist, but I have spent over 25 years studying the science of anti-aging, joint health, and longevity supplementation as an independent researcher and health writer.
I write in first person because I believe that transparency about who is behind the content is fundamental to trust. You know exactly who you’re reading, what my background is, and what my limitations are.
Evidence Standards
Source Hierarchy
I prioritise: (1) Systematic reviews and meta-analyses of human trials, (2) Randomised controlled trials in humans, (3) Cohort and observational studies, (4) Animal or in vitro studies (clearly labelled as such). I do not cite press releases or brand-funded studies without disclosure.
- Every health claim is linked directly to its PubMed source — you can read the original study yourself
- I verify every PubMed URL is live and the study content matches the claim being made
- I clearly distinguish between human evidence and animal or cell-culture evidence
- Minimum five peer-reviewed citations per health article
- Where evidence is preliminary or conflicting, I say so explicitly
Claims Policy
- I never claim a supplement, food, or practice “cures”, “treats”, or “reverse” any medical condition
- I never make diagnostic claims
- Dosage guidance is presented as “used in studies” or “typical supplementation range” — not as personalised medical advice
- All dosage content includes a “consult your GP or pharmacist” caveat
- I distinguish clearly between association and causation in research findings
Update Policy
Longevity science moves fast. I review published articles on the following schedule:
- Supplement reviews: Every 6 months, or when significant new research is published
- Science articles: Every 12 months
- Pillar guides: Every 6 months
Each article displays a “Last reviewed” date. When an article is substantively updated, the date is refreshed.
Affiliate & Commercial Relationships
Ageless Authority earns affiliate commissions from some products reviewed on this site — including DoNotAge, iHerb, ProHealth Longevity, and Amazon Associates.
My editorial policy is simple: I only recommend products where the evidence supports them. Affiliate commission rates play no role in my assessments. If a product is overhyped or the evidence is weak, I say so — regardless of whether I have an affiliate relationship.
- Affiliate links are always disclosed with an “Affiliate Disclosure” notice
- All affiliate links carry
rel="nofollow noopener"attributes - I do not accept payment for editorial coverage or product placement
Corrections
If you believe something I’ve written is factually wrong, please contact me with the specific claim and the source you believe contradicts it. I investigate all correction requests and update articles where warranted.
